Chianti Superiore is on the thin line between Chianti and Chianti Classico. The Piccini Family is one of the few Chianti producers who made a choice for quality by producing Chianti Superiore—a new denomination introduced in 1996 that fits perfectly with the family wine philosophy that quality always prevails over quantity. The Chianti Superiore is a result of careful selection of the best Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot grapes. Hand-harvested grapes are immediately fermented in the modern cellar at the Piccini estate. A prolonged maceration with the skins give the wine complex aromas and a fruity nose. Bright ,light ruby-red, almost translucent. An elegant, layered complex nose with touches of bitter and sweet plum, black cherry and spices. Great balance and refinement on the palate. Long, lively finish. A lovely wine of great tenure, with a pleasantly dry and supple tannic flavor.
